Last Years Rank - 26 Moving down quite a bit from last year's spot (26), Rogue Squadron stays in the top 50 only because no other Star Wars flying game has topped this on a console. Even though we got Rebel Strike 1 and 2 on the GameCube, they both didn't feel as fresh or as rewarding when I first played this masterpiece. This game came out before LucasArts started whoring out all their Star Wars franchises to make games about, so a Star Wars game back then was rare and usually pretty damn good. It's visual style alone was worth it and also required that you had the RAM expansion pack for the N64 to get the full effect. And of course the sound design was first rate all the way, it was amazing that they were able to cram so much music and dialogue on a cartridge. Factor 5 knew what they were doing back then. |
