31. DOOM II (PC)

A classic in it's own right, DOOM 2 was my first venture into the FPS world on the PC. When I first got this game, I was running a ghetto 386 with 4 megs of RAM and an 80 MEG (not gig, MEG) harddrive. It would literally take 7 minutes for the game to start up and I would have to reduce the screen size by about 4 times just in order to get it to play smoothly enough. But it didn't matter, I loved this game to death and it probably made me like FPS's even more than I normally would. Running through Hell as a lone marine and blasting every bad guy in sight was just so damn fun that I didn't care about the story or anything else this game may have lacked. Perhaps the best thing about DOOM 2 was that after I got a newer computer which had online capabilities, I would play deathmatch with my friends in custom maps we'd found on the internet. Fragging eachother over 28.8K connections was sure a time killer and led the way to many other FPS's for myself.
