Well well well, look what we got here. THE BEST hockey game to evolve from the Sega NHL 2Kx franchise, NHL 2K3 was an almost perfect hockey game. This was the first time I really "played" a Sega hockey game, seeing as how I didn't have a Dreamcast, I never got to enjoy NHL2K2, so 2K3 was my inagural year. The puck physics and gameplay in this hockey game were the best I've ever seen represented on a console and it blew my mind. Not only that, but you could pin your opposition against the boards and fight for the puck down low, as well as cycle the puck and dump it in on command. Although the commentary wasn't the best, it got the job done just fine and was a welcome change after sitting through EA's "comedy" based stuff in their NHL games. Of course this game wasn't perfect, the goalies were incredibly god like and the franchise mode wasn't very deep, this is still my favorite Sega hockey game to date. |
